Hi, welcome to my art page!

I’m Sunaina Chander, a self-taught artist based in The Netherlands. Born in India and raised in Denmark and The Netherlands, my work is a vibrant reflection of the experiences and memories of growing up across cultures, blending emotions and places into visual stories.

While my academic background is in Sustainable Development, art has always been an important part of my life. I started painting as a child, experimenting with Indian folk art and falling in love with its colours, symbolism, and storytelling. Over the years, my style has evolved into a fusion of tradition and contemporary expression. I received fine arts training at the Royal Academy of Art The Hague, to deepen my artistic skills and explore different techniques.

My work explores themes of belonging, nature, spirituality, and memory. I’m inspired by the vibrant colours and beauty found in everyday life, from weathered doors to nature and places rooted in heritage. I use bold colours, textured layers, and impasto techniques to create paintings that are rich in movement, depth, and emotion.
